- Hurricane Irene began impacting the
Bergen/Passaic County area with
- its first rain bands around 12:00 Noon on
Saturday August 27 2011.
- Overnight, torrential rains and winds
arrived, and by 11:00 am on Sunday August 28, 2011
- skies were clearing over Northern
NJ, with only Tropical Force Winds remaining thru late in the
afternoon.
- Damages in the area included widespread
road and steam Flooding,
- with some water rescues of people from
cars and homes being done by Public Safety,
- numerous trees and power lines down,
resulting in widespread power outages and closed roads.
