* AT 419 PM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
ADDITIONAL CLUSTERS OF HEAVY SHOWERS MOVING NORTH THROUGH NORTHEAST
NEW JERSEY...THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHWEST CONNECTICUT.

MESONET OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT BETWEEN 3/4 AND 1 1/4 INCHES OF
RAINFALL HAS FALLEN IN SOME URBAN LOCATIONS WITHIN THESE REGIONS.
THESE ADDITIONAL SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE RAINFALL RATES OF
AROUND AN INCH PER HOUR...WITH BETWEEN 1/2 AND 1 INCH OF ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL IN THE CORES OF THE STORMS. THIS WILL LIKELY CAUSE
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WITH FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS
AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MINOR FLOODING MEANS THAT ALTHOUGH STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY RISE OUT OF
THEIR BANKS...PROPERTY DAMAGE WILL BE MINIMAL. INCONVENIENCES CAN BE
EXPECTED BUT THE FLOODING WILL NOT BE IMMEDIATELY LIFE THREATENING.

* UNTIL 830 PM EDT...

* AT 633 PM EDT SCATTERED SHOWERS ARE CONTINUING TO PRODUCE HEAVY
RAINFALL ACROSS NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY. WHILE THE SHOWERS ARE NOT AS
WIDESPREAD AS EARLIER...BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS WITH RAINFALL RATES OF
UP TO AN INCH ARE OCCURRING. THESE SHOWERS ARE MOVING NORTH AROUND
20 MPH. ANOTHER LINE OF SHOWERS DEVELOPING OVER WESTERN NEW JERSEY
WILL ALSO TRACK INTO THE AREA AROUND 8PM PRODUCING ANOTHER BRIEF
PERIOD OF HEAVY RAINFALL.

SPOTTERS HAVE REPORTED MANY STORM DRAINS OVERFLOWING WITH WATER...A
FEW LANE CLOSURES ON ROADS WITH A FEW INCHES OF STANDING WATER ON
THEM. SPECIFICALLY...ROUTE 17 NORTH OF PARAMUS ROAD IN THE AREA OF
RACETRACK ROAD AS WELL AS UNDERPASSES AT MAPLE AVE NEAR ROCK ROAD
AND ACKERMAN AVE NEAR BROAD STREET ARE BEING AFFECTED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. MOST FLOODING DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. TURN AROUND AND
FIND ANOTHER ROUTE.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF URBAN
AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE

* UNTIL 945 PM EDT...

* AT 816 PM EDT A THIN LINE OF HEAVY SHOWERS WAS MOVING EAST ACROSS
NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AROUND 20 MPH. RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO AN INCH
ARE OCCURRING WHICH IS CAUSING PONDING OF WATER ON ROADS WITH POOR
DRAINAGE AND IN LOW LYING AREAS.

THE HO-HO-KUS RIVER AT HO-HO-HUS HAS JUST RISEN ABOVE ITS FLOOD
STAGE OF 3 FT AND THE SADDLE RIVER AT SADDLE IS EXPECTED TO CREST
JUST ABOVE ITS FLOOD STAGE OF 4 1/2 FT THIS EVENING. MINOR FLOODING
IS EXPECTED ON BOTH RIVERS AND THEY SHOULD BOTH FALL BACK WITHIN
THEIR BANKS BY MIDNIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MINOR FLOODING MEANS THAT ALTHOUGH STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY RISE OUT OF
THEIR BANKS...PROPERTY DAMAGE WILL BE MINIMAL. INCONVENIENCES CAN BE
EXPECTED BUT THE FLOODING WILL NOT BE IMMEDIATELY LIFE THREATENING.
