NWS Upton NY SKYWARN Information:

SKYWARN^TM is a nationwide program of the National Weather Service. SKYWARN^TM is sponsored by local NWS offices and consists of over 100,000 trained volunteers from the general public who observe and report hazardous weather.

 

Bergen County is 1 of 5 NJ Counties in the County Warning Area (CWA) of the Upton, NY National Weather Service Forecast Office (NWSFO) which is located on the grounds of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY (please refer to the NWS Upton NY SKYWARN^TM Program Website for complete information on their SKYWARN^TM Program) 

 

The Upton, NY NWSFO CWA covers the 5 NJ Counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union, as well as New York City, Long Island, the Lower Hudson Valley of New York, Southern Connecticut and the surrounding Coastal Waters. When SKYWARN^TM is activated for Bergen County NJ, SKYWARN^TM Nets are held on the W2PQG 2 meter Amateur Radio Repeater. The frequency is 146.700 Mhz with a - 600 Khz input offset and a PL of 141.3 (Note: PL access normally not required during a SKYWARN^TM Net). For non-Amateur Radio listeners, most public safety type Scanners can be programmed to receive this frequency.
